Soon our wildest adventure will begin. It’s a road billions have followed but it still feels so new and daunting to us. On June 4th, 2016, my wife and I learned through 4 pregnancy tests (Yep, we took 4 thinking each one was a mistake) we were unexpectedly having a baby. And our plan to never have our own kids (but adopt years down the road) was thwarted. We cried and then went on a long run to the Lincoln Memorial to clear our heads. Fast forward 7 months, we’re still shocked, but also very excited (and absolutely terrified). The midwives say our due date is February 5th so I’m holding them to that date. Despite every emotion, we realize and grieve that getting pregnant is a luxury that far too many couples can’t enjoy. Even though a big surprise, we’re grateful for this surprise. After all, we love adventures and this city. Here’s to the long road of raising a baby in our nation’s capital. We’d have it no other way.
